Legion was born of rage: pure, unadulterated fury that half of voting US citizens found it not only acceptable but commendable to elect a fascist sexual predator for a second term of presidency; and beyond that, anger at the wider state of our world that cares so much for wealth and so little for humanity. So often society softens ugly things with words that make them seem more acceptable. Hate becomes 'patriotism'; sexual assault becomes 'a misunderstanding'; forced birth becomes 'pro-life'; misogyny becomes 'a return to traditional values'. We say: fuck that. The people advocating for these ideas should have to look at the stark reality of their views every single day of their lives. That is the purpose of this work. Legion is a survivor-led art movement dedicated to removing predators from power and creating solidarity by reminding us of our shared experience. We invite you to get angry with us. Because something unique happens when you get angry: you forget to be afraid. In the coming months and years, may we all be angry enough to leave our fear behind and stop the spread of hate, and may we remain kind enough that we remember to take care of each other. We are not afraid. We are not alone. We are LEGION.
